Gearbox Clutch Problems

Hey all im new.

I just bought myself a 318IS, and it has now started not going into gear when the clutch is down and vise versa it wont let me deselect the gears when clucth is down, is this an easy fix. It has aparently had a recent clutch change before it was bought..

You help is very much aprecitated

this may sound like a stupid question, but does the car have a floormat? Alot of times the floormat gets jammed underneath the clutch pedal and doesn't allow it to depress all the way...
