Had to share this, cause I don't believe it. I just got the main fuel supply hose (manifold to pressure regulator) replaced on my car, as it was leaking, and was slowly getting worse. So, thats fine, I fixed it.
Fast forward to now. Since I put gas in the car on Friday morning, I've put about 210kms on it. Haven't even hit the half tank mark yet. Every tank before this I was getting about 175kms out of a half tank. How could I possibly have been leaking that much fuel and not have noticed?
My driving habits have remained the same: brisk. So, yeah. Wow. I'm impressed. I'm now getting better mileage than our family's 2001 Protege 5spd. With a 20 year old six cylinder, 4 spd automatic car. Incredible.

10.5kms/litre as compared to 8.75kms/litre before repair.
Not bad for city driving. I'm still amazed. 44mpg? Not possible. It must be lower than that. The best mileage I've ever seen however is out of my dad's Mazda 323. Commuting to work and back every day, 100kms highway each way, he gets 16.5kms/litre. Thats insane.
Still, can't believe I'm beating the 'silver bullet', which is what we call mom's Protege. Oh, wait a second...
I switched from 87 to 89 octane this time, cuz gas prices went down. Would that do it?

So, I get about 250kms out of a little more than half a tank. The car now has 280 and the needle has sunk to the 20 mark in just 30kms. I hate this thing's fuel guage.

Damn good, actually. And you're driving a 325i to boot. Mine's an E, which is alright. It's been weird though. The last 50kms have eaten a quarter tank of my gas. I'm trying to figure it out. Maybe the gas guage is being a bastard? I dunno.
Hey, does the back-up-battery on the VDO heads cause the gas guage to go phooey? That might be the reason. I know the battery is gone because the temp guage is all funny when it starts up in the morning.
And I though I was getting this fantastic mileage. Damn.

I get about 280-320 miles to a tank, depending on how much lead content my foot has that week. I wish I got 370, considering I put up to 1000 miles a week on my vehicles.
