Gas Gauge problems - BMW Forum

i go to put some gas in my '91 325i last week and since then the gas gauge has not been indicating the right amount of fuel and it seldom jumps around...everything else works fine...

need help thanks.

were you filling the tank up? And how do you reckon the gauge is not indicating the proper level? It seems that this is a difficult issue to help with without more detail...it seldom jumps around? it shouldn't jump around right?

nah i put 10$ in the tank. so it was under half a tank at $1.92 a gal.

i reckon its not indicating the proper level because on about 5 gallons ill get 95 miles more or less on the trip meter. and i fill it up with 10$ when the gauge gets in to the red. and lately its been above half a tank settling at 3/4 tank.

so no it shouldnt jump around. i was just driving it today showed 3/4 tank when i know its under 1/4 of a tank atleast.
