Hello All,

Basically Whats the Bosch part number(s) for a good injector upgrade for an
M20B25 i motor? Affordable?

0280 150 415?
0280 150 714?

Any more hard facts or numbers from anyone thats done this would help,
or any good opinions too.
Or let me know if my numbers are wrong.

Whats the deal exactly, it gets confusing fast.

(maybe Denso or Ford or Accel part numbers too??)
We should make a list for i and e motors.

If just get some clean pulls from the junk yard will they be OK or should I get them refurbished. min $15 each Maybe try them first. Soak them in gumout??
buy the parts kit for $20 o rings, caps etc?

If I get refurbished Type III will they be quit?

Ive done some research.
I can find the flow rates and ressistances of most Bosch injectors.
Even some Ford part numbers and rates.
ie the yellow Bosch & Ford, Mustang 19# injectors
Bosch will tell you which one goes in which car.
What I cant always tell is if its a Type I II or III single or 4 pintle (hole) design

Fuel Injector Flow ratings

Fuel Injectors Direct: new fuel injectors, remanufactured fuel injectors, OEM fuel injectors.
BMW Fuel Injector at Drivewire.com

I want the benefits of the Design III 4 pintle and slightly higher pressure.

What Ive heard is you get:
Smoother idle.
No more annoying loud clicking of old injectors.
Better gas milage.
More horse power.

(Usually need more pressure to support mods ie cat back, intake, chip, stroker, turbo etc, Under rated injectors cant keep up.)
I'm running mostly stock right now.

I got new i motor but I'm not sure of the shape of my old injectors.
They look clean on the outside, but the clicking is loud, which I'm told is what some injectors do when they get old.???
I believe they are the light blue ones part num 715
My idle still isnt perfect, sometimes I get a little pinging in the morning when its cold.

First you must have correct pressure in:
Fuel Pressure regulators:
325 325e es Bosch 0 280 160 248 2.5 bar
325 i is Bosch 0 280 160 249 3.0 bar
528e Bosch 0 280 160 225 2.5 bar

I had an old 225 2.5 bar one in by accident, put the correct 149 3.0 bar one back in. Seemed to feel better at top end, WOT.

Second must be within correct impedance range:
M20 e and i's are high range 14.2 and 15.4
I think as long as your not in the low range but close to this high range it will work on e or i motor.
So sayeth the holy Starmavin.

14.5-17.5 ohm high impedance range
2.5-3.0 ohm low impedance range

Third must have right connector or must rewire:
sqaure
not oval?
are the any others that wont fit? or if you get some that are square can you be pretty sure they will drop right in.

Fourth Pick an injector ugh?
OK this were I get lost.
I want to generate a list of acceptable part numbers that I know will work, then hunt for a good set.

One question I have is can you swap injectors without removing intake manifold?

so far I'm leaning toward the
Bosch 0 280 150 415, 166cc, 15.9 ohm, light green, 17#?,$100
only slightly more pressure than stock, but I'm not sure if they are 4 pintle
They seem to cost twice as much as the 715's or 710's
I wonder if all the 700's are Type I? Need more research...

Some data:
Injectors:
325 325e es Bosch 0 280 150 710, 144cc, 14.2 ohm, gray, 14#
325i is M20B25 Bosch 0 280 150 715, 154cc, 15.4 ohm, light blue, 14#, $60
525i M50 Bosch 0 280 150 415, 166cc, 15.9 ohm, light green, 17#?,$100
Bosch 0 280 150 714, 192cc, 15.8 ohm, yellow, 19#?

Mustang 4.6 V8 Bosch 0 280 150 556, 210cc, 14.4 ohm, yellow, 19# design II?
700?
203?
778?
716?

0 280 155-962 Type III's

I'd prefer to stick with Bosch injectors.
I dont care if they are for a Ford or came out of a Ford
Just prefer they werent designed and manufacture by Ford, LOL.
I suppose Ford type II's or III's would work.

200cc == aprox 19#

Again theese injector ratings are cc's at 3 bar input not at 2.5 bar?
3.0 bar == 43.51132 PSI
2.5 bar == 36.25943

OK enough rambling for now...

LOL

Hey bud,

Thanks. I read the thread twice.I'll read it again.

Just trying to be sure I do it right once.

I dont need type III?

type II has the 4pitle holes?

do type I II ad III have differet conectors?

I'll keep looking for more numbers too.

Thanks.

The I and II drop in, some of the type III connectors fit but flow too much for stock use. The ones from an early ford 4.9L or late 5.0HO (yellow tops) have the 4 pintle spray pattern. I got a good 15% + increase in fuel economy with smoother idle and more power even with them being used.
