Angry fuel injector question

I have an 82 320i. I have been trying to get it to run with no success. When I pulled the injectors out to see how they were spraying and all but one was spraying an uneven spray the other did nothing. I cleaned the one that did nothing and now it sprays pretty even but it seems like a large amount and then quits spraying. The others will spray even now but after the pump cuts off arent they supposed to do like the first one I cleaned and stop flow? They still continue to spray fuel until the pressure is gone. Does this mean they need to be cleaned more or are they just bad? I have only messed around with carbureted vehicles and fuel injection is new to me. Another question I have is arent the injectors supposed to pulse one at a time? I have another car with the same engine close at hand that has been sitting for quite a while. Would the injectors from this car be bad after sitting for a while (about 4 years)?ghead used:

What you have is called the CIS (continuous injection system) This system meters the air directly by way of an air plate, as this moves in and out in response to more or less air flowing it allows the injectors to spray more or less fuel. So the whole system relies on engine vacume so between the air plate and the motor must not have any leaks.

My first sujestion would be to clean the air plate and run some carb cleaner through the CIS by filling the fuel line with carb cleaner hooking it back up and have someone crank it while you push the air plate in by hand.

Dude, keep in mind that reguardless if they sat for 4 years or not, they are at least 24 years old with who knows how many miles. It wouldn't be a bad idea to change them out.
