Whats a flex disc do? how can u tell if its time to be replaced?

a flex disc is what connects the drive shaft to other parts,,most cars have u joints..bmws have flex disc"s,,,if you cant remember when it was replaced..then it needs to be,,symptoms include,,nocking noise when shifting from park/nuetral to drive or reverse,,vibrations from center/driveshaft area at speed

yeah, if u are accelerating rapidly and ur flex disc is going bad, it will have this very bad vibrant shaking, unbearable, which forces u to lay off the accelerator. it gets worse and worse.

I just replaced that and the driveshaft. Let me tell you, it can be a definite bitch to replace. Especially when you have to retorque everything and you have about a .5 inch of space to work with. and you have to drop the entire exhaust system, remove all the heat shields, and drop the driveshaft. took my dad and I about 15 hours total for removal and install. spread over about 3 days.
