flasher relay

alright so my blinkers stopped working so i just figured it would be the relay causing the problem so i bought a relay for it off the internet Car Part Wholesale - Auto Parts and Accessories Catalog - Bmw 318i Wehrle Turn Signal Relay W0133-1637885 - BMW 318i Wehrle Turn Signal Relay
but when i took out the old relay it was a 4 prong and the new one is 3 prong... so i tried to just put the 3 prong into the socket but when i do it makes this real loud buzzing sound. now i'm not sure if i'm even taking out the right relay but according to what i have found online it's under the steering column and the one i took out is the only relay down there. I NEED HELP.
