So I just got my first BMW on 09.20.04. I am very proud to own such a wonderful machine. It's an 1992 325i Conv. with an E30 body, 5-spd transmission and an M20 engine. Everything is in great condition and I have no complaints. But just some things I have pondered on...
Which book is THE book for maintenance and repairs? I've seen the name "Bentley" alot...
Also, is the air conditioning panel supposed to light up when the lights are on? I'm still fumbling around in the dark for the controls.
Please post any misc. tips for my new machine that I might find helpful.
So did u transform an e36 into an e30 or what, i thought in '92 that the e36 body style had started. I looked at the pics and it looks like an e30 to me.
BTW, the lights for the air conditioning and all that stuff are supposed to light up... its probably a fuse or somethin.

No, the deal on the body style is that (I am assuming, even without the assistance of any official knowledge or photographic evidence) in 92, BMW made E30s and E36s. An example can be found if you go to BimmerParts (bimmerpartswholesale.com - also, not a promotion) and select the 325i in the pulldown list and you can see where the body styles overlap in years. They have the conv. in both E30 and E36.
(Not in a rude manner) Go chew on that one for a while... used
91 was the last e30 saloon. 92 they continued with the convertable.

I live my life one quarter mile at a time, and for those 23 or more seconds I'm free.
Imagine if I won the lottery - make me a to-do list from hell.
Ex:
1. What wheels would look good on it?
2. Where can you get that front-end trim piece that goes above the headlights and below the edge of hood... kinda looks like a unibrow for a bimmer?
3. How about side skirts to match the front?
4. Roundel with red fills.
5. Anything else that would look cool.
PS: It wasn't the alternator. The battery shorted out. Much cheaper.
