about the motor swaps...who cares if if reduces the value of the car? the average bmw e30 is bought around the $2500 range anyways so why worry about reducing the value of the car??

Whoever started this thread, sounds to me that you're not willing to spend anything to make your car fast. If that's the case, go buy a newer car. But if you want ur e30 to be fast, ur going to have to spend money. By that sed, a great engine swap would be an m30 engine. All in all, it is a great engine, u can beat the engine to hell and it will bring satan back with it.

The m30 engine puts out about 210 hp and 310 Nm of torque. So to start off, the engine has great numbers and will make ur car a lot faster than u would imagine.

Like i said about the engine being bulletproof, the m30 engine also works well with turbo/supercharger setups due to the low compression the engine already has. I've seen in magazines and other e30 enthusiasts put out incredible numbers with the m30 engine (the highest i've seen is 520 hp with 798 lb/ft of torque).

if you want more information on the m30 engine, go to this site:

i still say stroke it...but either way the bix six is fun...but those of us in CA dont really consider it an option...motorswaps are a nightmare to register in CA trust me i know lol...ive done a few in My JDM days...still have one remaining in my backyard..1987 CRX w/B16 Turbo...puts down about 320 HP but its still a honda lol this is why i bought a BMW...its a much better car....if you want something straightline fast and inexpensive do what i did...take the lightest honda platform Gen 1 CRX put a B16 in it and turbo it...then sign up at resource.crx.org

First off all you guys hurt my feelings with that JDM and japan bs crap. issed2" class="inlineimg" /> (j/k)

I know exactly why I want a bmw for and espcially a E30. I love small cars, RWD, and starting with 2700lbs is something that really intrigues me. Plust the E30 is my favorite BMW that I can afford.

About the money spending stuff, I am ready to invest a lot of money in this car and already have a budget seperate for it. The thing is that I do not want to spend 7k on puting a turbo on my engine and some other stuff to find out that the power sucks and me not being happy with the car. I have owned turbo cars and I hated them.

I was considering an engine swap and the resale value is not important to me since I will keep this car.

My suspension is not a big issue since I know exactly what I want to put on. The only problem is the engine since I am not very experienced with engines, I am more of the vehicle dynamics guy. I started this thread due to the fact that I did not know that I can get 220hp out of it and still have it be reliable. After talking to SEMA and the president I have decided to go with the 3.0l stroker and add some other stuff on the car hoping to pull 250+ hp. Since I am getting rid of alot of weight in the car (I am hoping to weigh at about 2300lbs) I am not worried about pulling 400hp out of a different engine. I was thinking about just getting one from a M5 and keeping it stock since that would give me more then enough power.

The thing is paying for a new tranny, diff, wiring etc. is just not worth it in my opinion.

Anyhow, thank you guys about the SEMA hint, they are really cool, and now I finally can sleep at nights knowing what I want.

Ohh, by the way, my 325is ('89) had 80k on the engine when I bougth it (about year and a half ago). Now it has 90k and I only changed the fuel pump. This old lady from florida sold it to me for $2500 since she could not use the stick shift in the car any more. It is fully loaded and she had all the maintanace documents.

I feel very lucky to have this car for the money I paid for it and that is another reason why I don't want to think about buying a different car.

Like said, I talked to Brett, the seam president, and he is very very cool... As soon as I am out of school me and my bro are getting that engine done.

By the way BMDub, how much you pay for those racing dynamics rims??? I just read your crash story too and it almost made me weep like a little beyoootch. I alwasy do 110-120 on the highway and I always think "damn what if my tire blows". Sorry bout that man and if I would've known earlier there was a 325is for sale up here in Michigan for 3000k with 120,000 miles on it. Very good condition though and PRIVATE, not dealer.

You haven't found one yet have you???

I read a story in the MODIFIED magazine of a guy owning a RX-7 and he got sick of rebuilding the engine so he put in a nissan sentra spec-v engine in it and is pulling 440hp or something like that. Now that is sick man. But his car is pretty bad ass.
