Engine Swap

I am going to swap a 198? 325ie engine in to a 1987 325i conv. I was wondering if the swap would work, and if so what would i need to do for the engine swap to work. I blew the orignal motor up and desperately need my car running again. Any help will be greatly appreacitated.

are you swapping a 'i' engine or an 'e' engine? theres no 325ie, unless you mean you have a stroked 2.7i engine. as long as its a engine out of a 325i/is/iC from 87 or newer there shouldnt be any problems. if it is from a 86 or older it wont work becuase it wouldnt be an 'i' engine. I dont think it would be worth it to use a 2.7 eta engine becuase it would be quite a downgrade

NOt really unless u going for mad torque, if he going through all that trouble just go E to i heads etc etc
