Engine Identification.

I have found an engine out of a BMW. It looks alot like the engine in my '90 325i but i'm not sure if its exactly the same. I'm wanting to pick it up but don't know how to identify it. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Jon

Single outlet exhaust = same
dual outlet = different.

No, don't worry. It's cool. I'm taking it back for us.

Thanks for the response.

But what do you meen single or dual. Out the back? The engine I'm looking at is no longer with the car.

On the exhaust side of the head, look for a displacement casting it will either say "2.7" or "2.5/2.7" or "2.5". Then on the drivers side just above the #1 and #2 intake ports you'll find a round casting that'll have the year (88).
