Ebay performance chip? - BMW Forum

Has anyone bought one of these cheap chips off ebay, they are like $39.95? I know the good ones are a lot more, just curious if these work.

Yea there's a few of us on here that have ebay chips....

I think everyone I've talked to hasn't had any problems with them...

With my ebay chip there's more power...more torque....and less gas mileage....

I like the power but I'm getting a good 40 miles less to the tank...

All in all....I think there good chips...

Please dont say its a Intake air temp sensor chip or is it the eprom chip!

Thanks for the info, most say they are ok, the snobby ones say buy the expensive chips, but we weren't all born with a silver spoon.

^^^ yea, from what I understand about the ebay chips is that they are exact copies of the high end chips....

so who really knows if theres a difference...

Yeah, I got an ebay Dinan copy chip for my old 525i and I noticed a big difference.

less gas mileage? all these chips do is lean out the fuel curve...i went from getting 25mpg overall for a tank, to 28mpg overall for a tank in my Eta

crazy that you saw a loss...maybe not...i dunno, maybe you drive it harder now?

^^^ yea that's an possibility.....it might also be that I installed it right when the weather started to change to winter....maybe the cold had more to do with it then the chip.....I haven't had the chip in for a summer yet....we'll see here in a few months...

I bought a used Dinan Chip on ebay. $40
For -173 ECU, works awesome.

I've had luck so far. Had one in my 325i and my 535i. First showed some engine codes, but did no more than a warning light. I say go for it, no problems here.
