Well here i am talking to my new partner in crime and as it turns out it seems he has an i motor

single exhaust still though....weird...anyone know any other tell tale signs other than a high revving motor "i" valve cover and i gauge cluster?!

Usually on the head it will say 2.5 or 2.7 sometimes it has both ill get you a picture of my 325i it has 2.5/2.7 stamped on it. Also look at the intake manifold if it has short fat runners it is an i if it has long skinny runners its an eta. If youve never seen an i than the e has straighter runners in some areas than the i does, due to length. What is the difference in the valve covers. There are some other things but without taking the head off or dissasebmbling the engine you cant tell. Those are the only things i know good luck.

The ICV is mounted on the valve cover on the E models. Located closer to the AFM on the I.
