E30 won't turn

So lately, I've been having trouble steering my car. It's an 85 325e and the steering wheel takes a lot of effort to turn - more than usual. I looked at the ps fluid and it's at a normal level. Also, I looked at the steering column and nothing seems to be out of place or look out of the ordinary. When I go to turn sometimes, the steering wheel squeaks as if it needs some grease in spots.

Could it be my alignment or what? Really need answers since this car is my daily driver.

Does it get any easier once you are doing a reasonable speed, more than 15 - 20 mph?

Could be a sludged-up rack or dry/worn ball-joints (uppers and/or lowers) !
