e30 w/ a 98 m3 engine

hey guys on wensday im goin to look and prob buy this red 1991 325i. its a 5 speed w/ a m3 motor swap.but the transmision and drivetrain are still for the 325. will i run into any problems while having this car because of that?and what will i need to do to fix it?

98 engine is OBDII the swap is going to be a gigantic pain in the ass....you will want to do an OBDI conversion on the S52 with an S50 manifold and the works then the swap will go a lot easier...there is a forum specifically for the M50/S50/S52 swap over at R3vlimited.com in the 24v swap section...there will be a lot of assistance there if you are serious about the conversion.

gotcha, so its running the E30 Getrag 260? its a terrible transmission to run an S52 on...if its the E36 325 Getrag then you are ok...thats the most common transmission to use with the swap cause you can use the stock E30 driveshaft...

agree....i never tried swapping parts that's to avoid any major problems in the future. i'd rather stick with BMW E30 Parts, don't wanna sacrifice my car's performance.

I've seen a lot of e30 owners run OBD 1 S52 motors so there is bound to be all kinds of info on this. Which tranny are you going with, and also which differential?

which transmission is in the car now?!?!, that is what im unclear about...and the E30 essentially runs the same differential as the Z3 and Z3 M roadster and Z3 M Coupe...it can take a huge beating...

tranny swap isnt that hard if you are a mechanical person, if you have never swapped a tranny before i would suggest professional assistance...

i just have a hard time believing anyone would bother using the E30 325 Getrag 260 transmission with the S52....the S52 mounts at a different angle than the E30 engine (M20) therefore the shifter point on the trasmission is twisted to the passenger side of the transmission tunnel a tad so bent linkage is needed and the transmission brace wont work so a custom one has to be made, all so that you can have a transmission that will break in no time haha....

so you are positive that the transmission is the stock E30 transmission?

4 cylinder turbo M engine? what one is that? there was never a stock turbo 4 cylinder...and he swapped an S14 from the E30 M3 in? then turbod it? this whole thing just screams scam
