E30 Speakers upgrade, cut the chasis or lift the new speakers?

alright guys I need your help, I'm installing a new set of 6x9 speakers in the back of my '90 325IS, Should I cut the chasis so it would fit right on or lift it about an inch? ,anyone that has done it please help me, It looks like the part of the chasi that I have to cut it the support.

i think that there are adapters you can buy to make a bigger speakers fit, i think thats what you were talking about when you said raise them

but cutting the chassis...i guess, if you want the speakers to fit flush, i guess its worth it

I wanna do the same thing.

Was thinking about keeping the original funcky boxes and go with the sleeper look.

But I think flush mounted 6x9 would look nice too.

Ive cut holes before in other cars and its a pain in the but.

Cutting is not a wise choice if you want to install a box for bass. Any amp with a good amount of power will push air into the speakers through the holes and makes them sound like crap if not destroy them....
