3-Series (E21, E30)Chat relating to the BMW 3-Series from 1975-1983 and 1984-1991 line. Specific models: BMW 315, BMW 316, BMW 318, BMW 318i, BMW 320/4, BMW 320i, BMW 320/6, BMW 323i, BMW 320i. E30 Family models include: BMW 325e, BMW 325i, BMW 325is, BMW 325ix.
I have been looking for a new suspension to replace my stock suspension on my 325i. I have offers of 300 for each of the combinations, Dinan Springs and Bilstein sport shocks or a H&R cup kit. Being a new guy to the E30 mod world I wanted to some some opinions. Please advise. Going for best performance and lower but not slammed. Not intended for track use, just planning on hard driving around country side and mountain areas.
Ireland Engineering STage 3 Springs = 275$
Bilstein SPort Shocks All ARound = 450$
Ireland Engineering 25mm/22mm Sway Bar Set = 375$
E30 M3 Rear Shock Mounts
that is the best setup

i dont think he asked for your favorite setup but ok. i would go for the dinan+bilstein. especially for non-track use. I havent really heard anything that good about the H&R cup kit, but you cant go wrong with bilsteins. where can you get these for 300 bucks? is that canadian?
what i want is the bilstein coil-over setup that bavauto has now. mmmm
I had a car with the Sport shocks and H&R springs - very stiff ride and a real pain as a daily driver. Never seen the cup kit installed, but I wonder if you really want a daily driver that low.
My current favorite setup isn't one of your choices, but might be a good consideration. I have a 90 325i with M3 springs and sway bars, and the Bilstein Touring shocks. The springs drop the rear about 1/2 inch and the front about 1 inch. Not very radical, but enough to notice. The larger bars are easy to swap in and keep everything flat in the corners. The Touring shocks are stiffer than stock, but not as harsh as the Sports.
This setup is working great in the foothills of North Ga.
I know he asked about his setup, ijust thought id give him what i thought was best, so he could compare, because the prices arent that far off.
the HR cup kit, ihave seen, and it looks good, but it drops the rear a little too much, and the tires have a tendancy to sag into the wheel well(if you have 15' rims).
but it sounds like Dinan + Bilsteins would be best, the HR Cup kit is good, but i think the dinan setup would be best.
