E30 Gauge Questions.

Hi everyone, i got a question about the gauge size on the bmw e30.
Is it possible to replace the whole gauge plate with new and better looking gauges?, the whole panel with the warnning lights and everything?

it would be interesting...to build a custom plate to house perhaps aftermarket gauges, or the OE gauges...let us know how it works out for you.

check out what johnnybayonne did with the gauges on his e36. he can probably give you some tips.

Well, The only thing i need to know is the size of them in inches. Is it by the standard or its bmw custom, because then ill have to custom make a face plate with new warning lights and remake everything. Could be a nice project.

I have been searching various threads in forums around the internet and got an idea.
Instead of wasting money on modifying the old panel, why not to swap the whole interior with the interior from an e46. There has to be a wrecked-totaled e46 waiting to be scrapped. Im well aware that the interior might not fit (probably wont) but with some fabrication i think its possible. My old e30 interior is in horrible condition.

For those who wondered why cant i measure the gauges myself, its because my car is in the workshop.

a decent interior for an e30 can be had for relatively cheap. why would you go to all the trouble and cost of buying a wrecked car for the interior?

The interior from the e46 is so much better than the e30. like 20 years diffrence.
Who said anything about buyng the whole car, its just the interior.

I put an e39(95-03 5 series) dash into an e24(80's 6 series). dont bother! it is no where near worth it! the new cars are just alot wider and curved while the old are a bit boxyer....
