e30 engine removal

I would like to know the best way to remove the torx head bolts connecting the engine to transmission bellhousing. The front of the car is on jackstands and everything is disconnected and the engine is ready to come out. My Haynes manual said to take the rear crossmember from the transmission loose and drop it down slightly. Then, with a long extension and swivel at the socket that i could get to the bolts. I did as instructed and it still seems impossible to get to the top two bolts because of the way the firewall is in the way. Anyone that has done this and has maybe a trick of the trade or just general good advice on my predicament your help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.

Undo the propshaft pull the engine forward the box will obviously follow as its still bolted, then you can get to all the bolts no problem, make sure you have a large block under the box or cradle to stop it from falling.

Thanks. It seems so obvious i feel pretty stupid. I guess i was so caught up on the way the damn book was telling me to do it that i just didn't think of that. Thanks a lot.
