Hello all, I read a few posts about this subject and would now like to ask my own questions.

m20- stroked or stroked+turbo
m20b25 w/ b27 head (as stated by a member)
s50 3.2l
s50 3.0l
m42- stroked? or turbo'd or both

what is the hp output for each of these and the cost? This is for engine and installation alone to make it run. As for the m42 just how much for the work because thats what I have now.

cost depends on how much work you can do yourself. a basic IE 3L stroker kit with headwork, and doing most the work yourself, would probably be around $8k. the S50 swap could possibly be in the same range if you do most the work yourself and find a good deal, but would most likely be more

What is your current Engine? so maybe i can make suggestions on what you can do with your engine itself. ITs a lot cheaper than what the options you chose.

M50 or S50 = best power for the money.

The M50 was used in the E36 3 Series from '92 to '95. The S50 was used in the E36 M3 in '95 only. You could go with a M52 or S52 ('96 on E36 motors), but the swap wont be as easy.
