E30 check control relay

first off i have an E30 1986 325e, 4dr, auto, (prod 12/85)

i know there is a relay that controls the check control system. (the check control system being of course the little red lights above the rearview mirror). Yet i don't know where its at. I've seen the actual relay, its rectangular in shape and is stainless steel in color. does anybody know where on the car its located, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry to tell you this, but there isn't a relay that controls it. It has it's own power supply that branches off of the turn signal power feed. So it gets it's power when you turn the key on. Other than that it has just the reverse feeds that kick the led on when a bulb blows, or when the hall effect in the low oil or low washer fluid trips the led. I know this first hand from removing the entire wireing harness from an 86 E30....
