interestingly, after looking at dyno curves of some aftermarket chips that are available, performance chips dont actually raise your max hp by more then 3-4 hp.
They create a maximum gain of 9-20 hp, but that is down where the hp is lower, not your peak hp. Chipped, the m20 only makes like 175hp. Just the lower rev range hp curve is higher.
And interestingly, k&n filters lose about 5 hp if you dont use a heat shield. This is the result of actual dyno testing.
