can an e30 compete in speed/acceleration against an e36?
im asking this because im now also considering the possibility of buying an e30 325e instead of am e36 325is, because of price, etc. also i like how they look.
how would say an 86 e30 hold up in cape cod? salt water-air..rust?
do they have more problems than e36's? im a noob when it comes to e30's
does an e30 325E have a larger engine than a e30 325IS?
Yeah. The Eta has another two tenths of a liter, but it's got almost fifty fewer horsepower than the E30 iS motor, too. You're comparing the most economical engine of the old generation to the most sporty engine of the new. Kind of one-sided.
A 325is will be very, very close to the acceleration of an E36 325is, but the 325e isn't made for that kind of driving man. If you want performance, you need the 2.5 motor.
ah but with about 1000$ of work you can get an E way faster than an is.
By swaping the intake manifold, cam, and exhuast with normal iS parts and then changing the differential gearing to something just below the normal 3.73:1. To top it off you get a new chip to raise the rev limiter and remap the fuel curve. That will be faster than a 325is. Both a e30 and e36.
