hi guys but pliz do help me, iv looked and just decided that i dont know wer to look, we is the ENGINE NUMBER ON THE E30 320I ENGINE.

The engine number is on the block, AFAIK on the right hand side (so left if looking from the front of the car). It may be possible to get the engine number from the VIN, but that assumes no engine replacement.

I believe that it is a 2.0 liter m20 if you have a 320i. If you're in Portugal or Italy and have a 320is you might have a variant of the s14.

thanks for the quick response, i actualy checked and saw the one on the vin... but then will check tomorow wen ther is light

oh and one more thing... does the E30 320i 1988 chrome bumper, does it have hydrolic lifters or adjustable tappets?

Visit realoem.com and enter the last seven characters of your VIN. Go to section 11 25 (Engine -- Valve Train) and see what turns up.

My son's 90 convertible with the M20 2.5L engine has adjustable tappets. My 91 318i (M42 engine) has hydraulic lifters for what that's worth.

hi guys... do tell me, in the case that u have and option of geting a 2.5l v6 bmw engine and a 2.5l straight 6 bmw engine as well, wich one is more powerful and faster in terms of speed given that the body of the car is the same?

There is no BMW V6.

im a student hu just bot an E30 320i, its standard everything... wat can i do to improve its performance! i drove it on a straight stretch of about 5km's and i managed to gt to a top speed of 165/170km/hr.. but it can not keep it ther.. so pliz tell me wat i can do to make it go faster. the worst part is its automatic...
