Angry E 30/ Need advise on a serious fast idle

My 1986 325e idle is extremely high when sitting still. Even with the idle adjustment screw backed all the way out. Checked hoses and did'nt find any leaks. I'm at a lost. Need Help.

Thanks,

Wydell

Sounds like you either have a vaccum leak on an air intake hose or the MAF ( mass air sensor) has died. Unplug the maf and see what happens, situated between the air box and intake manifold

Could be the idle control unit above the glove box...Usually you get a bouncing idle when it goes bad, but you never know...

I had the same problem either you tps is bad or you just have to adjust it when mine went bad it would bounce from 700rpm to around 2k rpm then at some points it would just stall if you do replce it make sure it is adjusted right when you put it in or it will either idle high or not at all
