View Poll Results: does you antenna go all the way down?
The reason I bring this up is because my antenna retracts most of the way...it is always sticking at least 4 inches out. I'm not sure if this is normal or not....what does every one say??
your antenna is simply showing the other ladies how much heat it's packing.
now the four inches part..that sucks

Simple fix, first make sure that it has been well lubed take PB blaster and steel wool to clean it good. If it still doesn't go all the way down, remove the top knurl, turn the raido on allow the antenna to go all the way up then the nylon drive cord will push out (make note of what side the teeth face) pull it the rest of the way out next cut off about 2 inches, reinsert, last turn the raido off. Repeat.
I had to cut off about 4 inches off of mine before it would draw it in all the way.
Mine goes all the way in (hehe), but only goes out about 12 inches. In my opinion, I like this setup, because the radio picks up stations fine, and my antenna isn't in the ionosphere or something. It does make a nasty sound when it stops going out, probably the motor grinding on the teeth of the antenna. I don't care.
Is there a mod where people put a regular flexible whip-style antenna (one that is always out) on their trash? <-I mean car?

ouch. $90? oh well. I guess it'll go on the list of "stuff to do".
edit: I looked on Bavauto, and they want $90 for the electronic base and $35 for the actual antenna.
p.s your car is HAWT!! Very nice.

Thx for the compliments.
You can get the antenna itself for like $7-$15 on ebay. They look OEM for half the price. Pretty much all the short, stub style and antennas will screw right in the Z3 base. I wanted a little length to ensure better reception since I'm running XM also.
I did get the seat covers from that ebay guy. I'm happy with them considering they are seat covers. I couldn't justify spending the money redoing the seats right now when I have a daughter who is just getting her license and needs help buying a car!:
I think they add a unique look to the car without looking cheap. Nice custom fit.
