87E30is is an unknown quantity at this point
I need to know if my car as the self-diagnostic system. It was made in March of 1987.

I should think so. Mine was built in November 1984 (an '85 325e) and it has the BMW diagnostic system in it.

The 15 pin diagnostic port was introduced on 87 model year vehicles, so it should have it.

only if it has 1.1 motronics will it have the self-diagnosing capabilities, but i dont remember the year

Okay, now I'm curious. Why would the owner's manual of my car (1985) tell me the BMW dealer can diagnose problems by plugging my car into their computer if I DON"T have a self-diagnostic Motronic box? (the original ETA was Motronic 1.0)
