I'm lookin to get a Dinan Performance chip for my '88 325is...I'm not sure bout runnin 91+ octane in it tho, is paying the extra for the gas worth the performance and fuel efficiency? Hit me if ya got a say, thanks
As soon as I get some extra cash saved up again I'm going to get one for my '89 325i that I just got today. As far as paying more for gas it is only going to be a dollar or two more per fillup depnding on what grade you use now. Also if you get the chip use a brand name gas, I perfer 76 or Chevron. I usually get 76 cause they are a few cents cheeper than chevron.

Have you taken the Jim Conforti chip into consideration? If so, why did you choose Dinan over it?

The reason I'm going with a Dinan chip is cause one of the guys that works at our shop on Fridays works for the local BMW dealer full time and that dealer is a Dinan retailer so he can get me a chip at cost. If I wasn't getting such a good deal on the Dinan chip I would do some more shopping arround to see what else is out there.
You can't lose when buying the higher octane fuel. Sure it costs more but i burns cleaner causing better gas milage. the performance isn't a huge gain, unless you run somethin like jet fuel with over 100 octane

With the higher octane fuel the high the tolerance for the fuel to explode (cause spark knock). Theres no advantage except that, you should be runnig 89 - what ever premium is around you in you BMW any way. I have an 87' 325IS and it runs much smoother and better on 89 than 87. So the cost is not that different in 89 - premium (don't use any fuel that contains alchool , ethanol.
Shouldn't have Ran your car on 87 in the first place, could ruin the engine and its aluminum parts. and ruin other ish. How much can you get the chip for ? .... does JC chips offer for 84s? or dinan*?
