Dinan Chip Talk
I am thinking of buying the Dinan chip for my 86 325es. The horsepower and tourque gains they are claiming are remarkable. But they say "maximum" gain. Now, the condition of the engine and drivetrain are going to determine the level of gain. And, the state that the fuel and ignition system are in. My car, 230,000 miles, may not see these numbers. And, chipping in general is usually a waste of money. I have chipped vehicles of other makes and said, "it seems to be a little faster". Usually just tricking yourself that you didn't waste money. Or you are convinced it's done something for you because you notice your rev limiter is higher. Most reviews I read of the Dinan BMW chipping is of similar sort, "it seems" talk. 24hp and 28 ft/lbs of torque extra should be an extremely noticeable gain, especially with a car that comes with only 125hp stock. I am new to the BMW world. This is my first BMW(I'm a high performance turbo mechanic...heavily modified american vehicles). Eventually I am executing Project Orca for this car. But in the meantime, is this chip going to be worth the buy? How many of you have done this mod and this mod only to a 325es? I'd like to hear your reviews.
