I there a difference in differentials for a manual car compared to an automatic? I am putting a new diff in my manual 318i and this is one area of the car I have very little info on.

well I want to switch out the diff in my '84 318i with an e533i diff with 3.25 LSD. The car the diff is from was an automatic. I was just wondering if that would still work with my manual car.
