Dont want to offend anyone but truly flow master is total garbage, if you have ever seen the inside of a flow master exhaust you would agree too. Flowmaster is more so designed to make a sound then it is for performance. If you want the most free flowing exhaust go with magnaflow. There are many good exhaust companys but flowmaster is the worst one. please trust me.
i uhh ment to say magnaflow...lol get a dinan exhaust or an ac shnitzer

Actually, you misunderstand. Flowmaster is a great muffler. Infact they are designed to increase horsepower greatly. Now what you are seeing inside is baffles, which you are correct, are for sound modification, other than that the exhaust is pretty empty which can be misleading. Flowmasters are designed for huge 350 (5.7 liter) engines which have a huge output from each exhaust pulse. these baffles make the air bounce around before they exit. Also they use inlet and outlet sizes of about 2.5 - 3 inches. Now you may say, wow thats big but on a 350 or 454 that actually can be pretty restrictive which keeps the torque up too.
Not to smash your dreams but thats the story.

Flowmasters suck. For those of you that havent seen the inside of one there are a bunch of 90 and 45deg bends/baffles in them which is not good for flow. I would go with a SpinTech. I started using their mufflers 2 years ago and won't put any other brand on my cars. My 320i has a single 2"inlet/outlet SpinTech and my 325i has dual 2 1/2" inlets and a single 3" outlet. Anytime someone rides in my cars they always tell me my exhaust sounds nice and they want to know what muffler I have.

i had a flowmaster on my old car and it sounded great and i could feel the increase in power,
my only thing is i need to get a dual 2.5 in to single 3 in made for the inlet, all i was asking was is the 3 in gonna be large enough , or am i adding back pressure?
