Cruise control kicking off

88 325is cruise control kicks off after about 5 minutes of use with no extreme load on the motor (heading up hills etc). Any ideas what would cause this?

I checked the lever and it is nice and tight. What i noticed today was that it tends to kick off as I start downhill. Could it be a vacuum issue?

Any other ideas on this one? Control lever is tight. But it kicks off after about 5-10 mins of use.

Maybe the brake light switch needs a look.
