Correct idle speed?

Hi there, was wondering what is the correct idle speed for an '87 325?

Mine sits at around 900-1000rpm and gets a little warm sitting at traffic lights.

Thx, Crispy.

Just behind your thermo-time-switch is another temp switch this one has two open prongs on it, bridge the two connectors with a section of wire and see if you idle drops. This switch gives the car a fast idle until warm and when it goes bad it'll have a slightly higher than normal idle. Normally, I just by pass this unless the temp in your area gets below 20 deg in the winter.
