Convertible Top Rear Window Cracked

:

Unfortunately the rear plastic window has cracked; is it possible to purchase just the window and have it sewn in or am I going to have to get a whole new top? Any vendors I should look to? Thanks.

When mine went in my BAUR, i just had a local upholstery shop sew in a new one. They can get the plastic, comes in a universal roll, cut to fit. Cost me about $200, labor included.

Yeah, I called all the upholestry shops in town, no one wants to touch it for less than $600.00 - they say that the entire top has to be removed?

This is true. The BAUR was a cabby, so i took that off myself, but the top does have to come off, and if you don't know how to do it, DON'T try it. $600 does not sound bad, mine was $200 'cuz i took the top off and put it back on myself.

^^^ is it really that hard to take the top off? I'm looking to replace my top but I don't really want to spend the $1,000+ to have someone do it......I'd rather spend $400 and do it myself....

is this the wrong way of thinking?

I found an outfit about an hour away that restores classic cars/convertibles. $300.00 gets me a new window sewn in. They'll remove/reinstall the top.
