i installed a cone filter on my 325 then all of a sudden im overheating in traffic, can there be a link, and what would cause this.

dont listen to this heat filter, hot intake shit. Because thats what it is... all bullshit.
Your car is most likely overheating because you undid the sensor on the end of the line.

Cone filters Do Not Lose Power IN Traffic! Why? This is a practical application. If the car is standing still, hot air from the alternator is being pushed striaght into the intake. You "loose" power at idle. And by power i mean fractions of foot lb of torque. By the time you start moving and are above 2000 rpms, where power is made in e30s, the car has enough airflow to not make a difference anymore, the alternator is blowing cool air into the cone filter again.
