Code 1222 what to change next???

Hello all in the community!! I am stoked to be able to come here for enlightenment when I am having issue's with BMW's, and as I have recently acquired a 1988 325is with problem's of it's own, I am hoping that someone here can help me out! When I got the car, it had intake and exhaust leak's and would not stay running..I R&R'd the manifold's, replaced intake boot (several small crack's) and I have replaced O2 and temp sensor's..now when I start the car...good idle, good throttle response...until it warm's up! Then everything goes awry! Ck eng lt comes on...dash light's up..throttle surges...stop test show's code 1222 (Lambda control1) yet, I cant find any vacuum leak's?? I know my way around vehicles, and am a pretty decent mechanic, but this one has got me stumped!! Any enlightenment from one of you Beemer Pro's out there would be greatly appreciated!
Have a great day!! And Thanx in advance!!

Hey Highvoltj,
Sorry I cant help you as I am new to BMWs myself, just bought a 1989 320i (E30) a week ago -it is great, I love it, however it is running like a Hairy Dog at the moment, nearly stalls off the mark unless you give it a decent boot (very annoying). Am hoping new Lead Set and Spark plugs will solve it.
There seems to be some very experienced, cool and knowledgeable BMW people here so I am sure they will help us both

Hello Grooverben, Thanks for the reply! In regards to your scene, among the many sensors I have replaced to gain some resolve, I had the same symptom's that you are describing on your 320i, and the sluggish throttle response went away after I replaced the crank position sensor....I am now getting the 1223 code...coolant system issue's...so I am going about that today! Hope that help's you! If nothing else, remove it and clean the contact surface and also clean terminal connection's. Apparently, and true to my scene, the main engine harness plug connection gets some corrosion as mine did, and I also cleaned that.
Good luck!
Jon

Thanks Heaps mate,
I will get all your suggestions done Wednesday(my next day off) and let you know how I go, Cheers
Have you got the service manual for yours? No mention of 1223 Code in there?
I just got a copy of The Bentley Bible ,as they call it here and I must say it has an amazing amount of really specific BMW info in it. Schematics, Troubleshooting etc I found where to download it free with no viruses, or annoying toolbars if you need a copy
Hope you have already sorted yours

you have 2 issues. First lets go over 1222. Code 1222 is for the o2 sensor. Look to MAKE SURE you hooked it up upon replacing the exhaust manifolds. Code 1223 is the coolant temp sensor. The SENSOR is the one thats higher up on the thermostat housing. the one thats closer to the fuel injector harness housing is the TEMP SENDER. DO NOT mess with this one, check the OTHER ONE, the one thats easier to get to.
