Unhappy

[FONT=Arial][SIZE=7] i have a 1983 320I and it has a clutch problem. When the clutch is released the clutch seems to let go to early. I was wondering IF ANYONE knows how to adjust it?

It can't be adjusted, it is a hydrolic system. One of 3 things is wrong with your clutch system.

1. Clutch is worn and needs replacement.

2. Clutch master cylinder has started to go bad and needs to be replaced

3. Clutch slave cylinder has started to go bad and needs to be replaced

AJ's correct, I would say clutch master and slave cylinder. Replace them together. Not a hard job for the home mech.
Parts are reasonable at bavauto.com.

You can try bleeding the slave cylinder, but it may not help.

When a clutch is worn out, it will engage at the very end of pedal travel, late not early. It will also be harder to get a smooth release, like a light switch turning on instead of turning on a light dimmer switch smoothly.
