I replaced the starter and went to start the motor, everything works fine except that there is no spark from the coil.
Before the starter replacement the car took forever to start, and I assumed it was the age of the engine. But now I am thinking that the ignition control unit has been the problem.
How can I test this?
The car is: 82 320i US spec, auto, air.
Recently the fuel injection system was rebuilt, and the alternator was replaced.
lso another Q check ALL connection you can find near the area you worked on and clean if dirty i'll see if i can find where the main relay is on your car is

Main relay is the left-most relay forward of the Left(driver side) shock tower. It's on a bracket and most likely covered by a plastic box say about 1.25" x 4"
