Exclamation Changed starter and now no spark???????

I replaced the starter and went to start the motor, everything works fine except that there is no spark from the coil.

Before the starter replacement the car took forever to start, and I assumed it was the age of the engine. But now I am thinking that the ignition control unit has been the problem.

How can I test this?

The car is: 82 320i US spec, auto, air.

Recently the fuel injection system was rebuilt, and the alternator was replaced.

Thanks

did the engine crank fine Before you swap the starter? might be a dead coil... maybe dead main relay...

cranked fine, but was very hard to start, that ultimately lead to the starter death.

coil is less than a year old.

which relay is the main, and how can i test, or should i just swap it?

Thanks

Main relay is the left-most relay forward of the Left(driver side) shock tower. It's on a bracket and most likely covered by a plastic box say about 1.25" x 4"
