Catalytic Converter R+r

I need the advice of people who have done this procedure (not had it done).

87 BMW 325e 2.7

A couple of ?s

1. BMW wants almost $400.00 for one
Any cheaper replacements?
2. a. Do they make a universal cat?

b. If so what is involved on the install (cut, weld, bolts right up)?

c. Universal cats are usually higher flow than stock is it true for this one?

3. Is there a complete exhaust system header back under $500.00

It ia expensive because it is one peice that includes the downpipe, would be difficult to install a universal cat... would have to involve some NICE welding skills... You should try to find a manifold back system from a 325i, true duals... Get a little bump in horses...

just get a magnaflow cat. they are around $100 and flow more then any bmw cat. it isnt hard to cut/weld exhaust piping.
