ive had my car for awhile now and just resently i noticed my catyletic converter is split in two. i was just curious if this car really needs a cat or if i can take it off and run a pipe straight to the muffler.

Is your cat really split, or is the heat shield on your cat just hanging off? That happens a lot. If that's it just rip it off. If your cat is really split in two, you would have a fargin' loud exhaust right now. Also, most every state that does inspections and definately every state that does emmissions testing will require one.
