Hi, I'm from Atlanta Georgia. A friend is selling his 87 325e, and the price, as well as the engine, tranny, and cluth are good. Those three were replaced 12K,15K,4K respectively. My question is, I know that the 6 cylinder is BMW's bread and butter engines (so I've read), how reliable is this engine, tranny, etc. Are there major problems associated with this car. I've had a Ford probe, and it was notorious for valve lifter ticking and cv joints. I love that the 3 is rear wheel drive... Any recommendations? My friend is a mechanic, the one selling it. I know he takes good care of it. Anything I should know would be great help. Thanks,

Jay

welcome onyxite

the e30 325 (M20) engines are very smooth reliable engines as you have already heard, but you still need to keep the valves adjusted and replace the timing belt around every 40k miles or so, and you should be fine. some early e30's spring a oil leak in the oil filter housing, but its a cheap ~$5 fix
