Broken 318i Sunroof

So, sitting at a stoplight the other day I decided to give my sunroof an airing, thankful for the beautiful weather. It had worked earlier that week, but this time something was wrong. It wouldn't budge, the turn handle just clicked at me. Since then I have got it to open, but the vent won't open, and it insists on remaining about 1/4" from closed. From the outside, it appears sunken in. Beyond that, I don't know how to describe it. I've been working on restoring the car for three years now, and am at my wits end. As my Bentley is useless in this case, does anyone here have any advice/tips?

I believe the only real fix is to remove the sunroof and replace all the worn parts. I know the feeling; the handle on mine simply broke off...

The handle on mine has broken off before...but that, at least, is fine this time around. I suppose you're correct about taking it apart, I'm just nervous about potentially causing more damage.

It's really the only way, and I bet almost anything is better than how it is now. You just have to take your time and be careful.
