Brakelight Lens Conversion

Hi

I have an 87 325 with the older style brake light lens can I replace this with the newer 88-90 E30 lens?

no not without cutting the body of the car...so no...you know the 88-91 M3 has the same tails as the 84-87 cars right?

Are you sure that its any '87, cause im pretty sure 87 was the first year they had the three layer tail lights, they also had the metal front and rear valences but with the metal bumpers, instead of the plastic ones

From the DMV papers and VIN plate the car is an '87.

9-87 was the date of the face lift. So 88 model year was the first year of tri-layered taillights. Cabrios did not receive until 91? Not positive on that, but my 92 has them and E30 were produced in cabrios till 93 and E30 tourings till 94.

You can clip the rear of the car to create the effect you want. It's not uncommon to find late models that were clipped with early tails in Germany.
