"Brake Lining" Light Flashes

I noticed it the other night when i was driving around. it seems like it only flickers when i hit bumps but it doesnt stay on. almost like something is irritating the sensor or something. Its just a quick couple of flashes then its off. Can anyone help me out? Last thing i want is my brakes to go

my e30 does the same thing. The Hawk HPS pads i purchased dont hold the sensor in place correctly, so i think it contacts the rotor under certain conditions.


So i guess if you took the front wheel, and brake caliper off you could prolly figure out a way to reattach the sensor correctly.


The light flickering doesnt necessarily mean the brakes are going to go, the sensor wont effect that. Just get a visual that your brakes still look like they are in good condition.

Thanks! ive had VERY worn brake pads on my last car and my BMW def. has good brake pads. ill have it jacked up today so i might as well check out the pads and sensors while its up. Thanks again

I had a similar problem. Flickering light was due to the sensor wire rubbing on the wheel rim, it had eaten throught the insulation on the wire causing the indication on the dash.

easy fix, just re connect the wires cover em with some shink tube and re route it properly to stay away from the wheel, hah

My check brake lining light is on everytime I start the car, but there is nothing wrong with my brakes. I have learned to ignore it.

mine stays on but my brakes are brand new!!! jus a bad sensor or something
