I cannot get the stupid brake light check light to go off. I'm stuck with the stupid CHECK message on my dash the whole time I'm driving. Here is what I have tried:

-changing the fuse on the brake light slot (slot 6) AND cleaning the slot with an electronics cleaner.
-checked to see if any bulbs had a brass base. Only the high mount stop one did, so I changed that.
-replaced the brake light bulbs with new ones. I made sure they were the right watt and everything.
-took out the bulbs and cleaned the contact with an electronics cleaner and then sprayed it with WD40.

I want to get rid of this stupid message once and for all and it is very frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas?

You may want to replace the brake-light switch, it's a $12 part off bavauto.com.
Takes about 15 minutes to replace.
Also, until you replace the switch, just hit the button above your rear-view mirror...

Sorry if I’m stating the obvious but the brake check warning is lit from ignition on until you hit the brake pedal. You don’t have to replace the brake switch to test it just bridge it with a fuse piece of wire. If the high level brake light isn’t OE (original equipment) they can give trouble
