Bought an 85 318 - BMW Forum

So, I went ahead and made the plunge, all $500 of it. I got a 1985 318i, 5 speed, with 122,000 miles. I figured it was a good deal, and didn't want to pass it up. I also talked with Bavarian auto recycling about doing the S14 engine swap for the car, he said he knows people who have done it and its not too bad. It wont be cheap, but I feel like I am up for the financial undertaking, as well as the peripherals Ill do myself. You guys probably think I am crazy

, I guess we will see what happens. Maybe Ill just use it as a DD.

either way its a good deal...not bad

i say go for the swap...you got the car already you might as well its like 90 more HP haha

I always thought the s14 made like 240 horsepower... @_@

I actually just checked the specs off Edmunds, which may not be right....but it says the S14s made 192HP. Thats a little low, but maybe they are right? In that case, I would go for the E36 M3 engine - the 97-98 years - it is actually cheaper than the S14. Ill have to take measurements to see if that inline 6 will fit in the compartment, so we will see. Right now I have to pick up the car first, I should get that finished.
