I bought my e30 about a year and a half ago and when I test drove her I noticed that right around 3500 RPM's theres a sudden boost of power -- in every gear. I first thought this was a problem but then I thought it might be a turbo but now I know it's not a turbo and I don't beleive it's a problem. Since this is the only e30 I've driven I don't really have anything to compare it to. Is this normal? I'd like to put a preformance chip in her but does this "boost" mean that I might allready have one? and if so how to I check?
i am assuming that u are driving an 325e or es cuz the rev limit is at 5000 unless u have a chip witch may raise that to 5500, but the point is that the most torque is within those rpms. one of the reasons i love my e30 is even though i know it doesnt go too fast u can feel what you've got.
oh and putting a chip will only give you more "boost"
the powerband rises alot at like 3500-4000(alot of power gain in a short time)
