i think there's more to it than that, the digits are there but they don't light up, i don't think that there's a bulb behind it.
i will also need some guidance on how to remove it
thanks in advance
I have the 6 button one in my 91 318is...Mine has 2 bulbs...I aasume one for the display and the other to light the buttons....
The bulbs are recessed into the OBC. You can not turn them with just your fingers....You will need needle nose plier's to get to them..You will have to remove your glove box to gain access to the OBC. I am not sure if there is enough room to get to the bulbs without "popping" the unit out of the dash....You DO NOT have to remove the entire panel to remove the OBC. It just clips in place, but you will have to unclip it from the backside of the dash, then the OBC will pop out the front side of the cluster....
If needed I could post a few pictures later....
thanks, if you have pictures and can post them, it would really be appreciated

My OBC starts messing up the display. it doesn't do this all the time but every now and then. When I push the OBC in the middle it works again the way it should.
The wiring is ok. Could the OBC be busted?
