Hi ,I'm new to this site so let me start by saying that I,m a proud owner of a 1990 325is that was givin to me by a family friend. The car runs great but I recently purchased a so called dinan chip off of an ebay seller with very good feed back. The only thing is I'm having doughts about the chip being a real dinan chip,it has a sticker on it that says dinan performance and it looks like it could have been made with a label machine .So my question is,does anyone know if its real or fake or has a real dinan chip bought from dinan so would know if its stamped dinan or if its a sticker? My car runs good even after I installed the so called dinan chip,so ya if anyone can help it would be great, thanks.
Well, I'm glad the car's running well with the chip. As to the authenticity, I can see your concern. Does it have a serial number you can check on the Dinan website? Oh, and
Thank you for the welcome and answer,I'm pretty sure it only had the ecu part number wich matched the dinan site part number and the dinan perfromance logo the pic on ebay site was a little blurry so I can't remember if it has it or not.
Welcome, its probably not genuine if you got it off of ebay, someone probably burned off what is essentially a copy of the chip. As long as the car runs well I would be happy with it, if you want the real thing I would go through Dinan directly.

yeh its easy to copy the chip
I have one off ebay but its a used dinan with box instructions etc, it should be fine
as long as its the right part number for your ECU ie -173 not the dreaded -153
need to run high octane
it should run the same at idle and low rpm and then come alive up in the power band. I just passed smog and put the chip and intake back on and you can definetly feel the difference in your butt dino.
you wont hit the rev limiter till higher rpm
I can easily hit it in 1st, rareley hit it in 2nd, I used to always hit it in 2nd in autocross now it flattens out for a bit before it pops in 2nd usually need to shift long before you hit it with the dinan in
this should tell you if its the real deal.

Yes your right and by the way the chip I bought was also advertised as used dinan chip but it doesnt matter Im going to try the rev limitter idea and see when the engine cuts out.Whats the rear wheel hp for the 325i motor ,I no the engine produces 168hp without the chip ,but whats the hp loss from engine to rear wheels?
