bmw e30 325is head gasket

hey guys,

I just had my car in for a emissions test and it failed and im pretty sure they overheated the engine. Now theres oil in the coolant reservoir but theres not coolant in the oil.... Whats up with this? Do i need to replace the head gasket because of this. i thought you only have to do this if there oil in the coolant and coolant in the oil. Im prolly gonna do it regardless ( which sucks cuz i just did the timing belt two weeks ago...), kinda curious to if this happens to others or not. im hoping im head isnt warped..let me know what you guys think

Thanks

Dont drive it until you know for sure if the head gasket is leaking are you sure its not dirty coolant in the reservoir?
